Hello and welcome!
My name is Rachel and this is my face! I’m a Chicago based actor, writer, comedian, and educator born and raised in Iowa. I studied Theatre Arts at the University of Iowa where I concentrated in acting and playwriting, wrote and directed two original plays, and surprised myself by getting really into standup. I made the move to Chicago shortly after graduation and studied sketch and improvisation at The Second City Conservatory. I am currently performing in Sketch Playlist at iO Theater, with my beloved sketch group Communal Beverage, as an actor with Playground Chicago, and I was most recently seen in The Grown-Ups with Lady Dog Theatre Company where I am a Co-Founder. LDTC is a female-run collective prioritizing opportunities for early career artists, and we are in our third year as a company. We produced the U.S. premiere of Zoo by Lily Bevan and the Chicago premiere of The Grown-Ups by Simon Henriques and Skylar Fox. As an actor I am interested in new work, complicated relationship dynamics, the most emotionally devastating scene you’ve ever written, and any opportunity to make an audience laugh. As a comedian and writer I like to explore themes like adolescence, growing up religious, humor in the everyday, and queer relationships. Outside of performing I am a teaching artist and early childhood educator. I love being silly and I really love writing on whiteboards. My dream roles can be found below.
